Setup Worksheet:

Rear wheel spacing (WS) back plate to back plate :

             WS: _____________
             Example: 2.17 Inches

Driveshaft offset from centerline (Offset):

            Offset _____________
            Examples: 0 centered
                         -0.12 left of center
                         +0.12 right of center

Axle inset into wheel (Inset):

            Inset: _____________
            Example: .25 Inches

The space between the ends of the axle tubes and
wheels, and the universal joint yoke and the pinion
shaft carrier, is called the Gap.

            Gap = .0625 (1/16")

Pinion Boss is usually .0625(1/16")

Pinion shaft carrier is usually 1/2" (.5) long.

When additional parts are added to the front of the case, ie;
oil pump, then, an additional amount is required to accomodate
the added parts.

       Pinion shaft carrier length _______________

Universal joint yoke is usually 1/8" (.125) long.

Pinion shaft length = (Carrier Length)+(Pinion Boss)
                              +(Universal Joint Yoke)+(Gap)

Right and left gear spacing is taken from pinion shaft
centerline to the right and left ends of the ring gear
assembly after the collar has been removed.

This is given for TOMY/AFX ring gear assemblies ...
    ...OTHERS MAY VARY ..measure yours.

Right gear space (Rgs): .125 inch ____________

Left gear space (Lgs): .125 inch ____________

Calculation of axle and axle tube lengths:

     Right tube length = (WS/2)-(Rgs)-(Offset)-(Gap)

     Right axle length = (WS/2)-(Rgs)-(Offset)+(Inset)

     Left tube length = (WS/2)-(Lgs)+(Offset)-(Gap)

     Left axle length = (WS/2)-(Lgs)+(Offset)+(Inset)

Note + or - sign of Offset when adding and subtracting!

You can add additional lustre or polish to the castings by
using fine 000 or 0000 steel wool. Additional detail can be
enhanced if you wish, using needle files and fine sandpaper,
but don't over do it, the castings are thin.

Wash your hands after polishing these metal parts.
