COMPUTERS FOR DCC-MB AND TNT
TNT Homepage
TNT and DCC-MB might be considered to be LEGACY type systems.
That is, they will be operating from DOS.
They require a reliable parallel port usually associated with older DOS and Windows 3 or 98 type computers.
Any PC compatible 386, 486 or 586 computer can be used.
The only condition being that the computer must be booted into DOS.
It has been claimed that Windows 98 will accomodate DCC-MB.COM if included in the DOS AUTOEXEC file.
Versions of DOS are available on the internet for free download.
Most sites will offer a ZIP file which will unzip into a batch of files which can be used to make an installable version of DOS.
Usually DOS 6.0 or later is recommended. I have found 6.22 available from PhatCode to be highly desireable.
Microsoft still has DOS 6.22 online as a "step-up" installation.
This can be done as a stand alone computer, or, it can be booted from a prepared diskette.
This could be accomplished on a LapTop if it were equipped with a parallel port.
A standard COM port would allow TV IR remote, also.
And, if it had a standard game port, then, even the joysticks throttles could be accomodated.
